The Sydney Swans have finalised their list for the 2018 season following the completion of the rookie draft on Monday evening.
In total the club made seven changes to its list through the trade, draft and free agency period.
Sam Murray was the only player traded out of the Club with no players coming in during the trade or free agency period.
In the only deal the club completed during the trade period Murray was sent to Collingwood in exchange for future draft selections.
Jeremy Laidler and Shaun Edwards both retired from AFL football with Laidler taking up a new role as Development Coach at the Club.
Over the last four days the finishing touches were put on the list for the season ahead with seven new faces recruited via the National and Rookie draft.
Sydney Swans Manager – Recruiting and List Strategy, Kinnear Beatson, said the Club is pleased to finalise its list.
“One of our priorities right from the start was to try and add to our midfield depth and we’ve done that through the recruitment of Matt Ling, Ryley Stoddart, Angus Styles, James Bell and Jake Brown,” Beatson said.
“We were also able to address our key position stocks, especially our forwards, by recruiting big Tom McCartin, who is a key forward, and Joel Amartey, who’s a ruckman/forward.
“We think we’ve been able to add to two areas we were a little bit deficient in, so we’re pleased.”
