Kurt Tippett is preparing for just his second match against his former side at the Adelaide Oval since joining the Swans in 2013.
It will be the third consecutive match for Tippett this season after he suffered injury issues throughout the season before a return to the senior side in Round 20.
Tippett said the side was looking forward to the challenge of taking on his former side who currently sit on top of the AFL ladder.
“They are the benchmark,” Tippett said earlier this week.
“They are at the top and they are at the top for a reason so we look forward to going over there as a group to put in a good performance.”
The 203cm big man has seen a return to form with his recall to the senior side in recent weeks putting in one of his best performances of the season against Fremantle last weekend.
Most impressive about Tippett’s game was his forward pressure as he finished the match with eight tackles to go along with his two goals, seven marks and 13 disposals.
Coach John Longmire was pleased with the performances of the ruckman since his return to the senior side.
“We thought he contributed pretty strongly last week and was good again today,” Longmire said after Saturday’s win over Fremantle.
“Both in the ruck, his follow up around the ground was good and in the front half he was a good target for us taking some strong marks.
“It is a good sign for us and that allows us to decide what we do with Sam.”
Tippett played 104 games for the Crows between 2008 and 2012 before joining the Swans where he has worn the red and white on 72 occasions.
