Sydney Swans youngster Dan Robinson has undergone surgery to repair a broken collarbone suffered against Port Adelaide on Saturday.
Robinson is expected to miss at least five weeks as he recovers from the surgery to the same bone he broke during the 2015 season.
Head of Football Tom Harley said the rehabilitation program for the 22-year-old would be determined over the next few days.
“Dan spent a lot of time out of the side last year with a shoulder injury and he broke his collarbone a couple of years ago in the same spot,” Harley told the HCF injury update.
“It’s probably too early to put a prognosis on that but we expect him to miss anywhere between five and eight weeks.
“We will temper expectations and say eight weeks, but hopefully we can rein that in when we know what we are dealing with.”
Veteran Jarrad McVeigh (calf) is nearing a return after increasing his running program on the training track.
“Jarrad was running well today and he is looking around that Round 4 mark,” Harley said.
“There are stages he will go through in strength recovery and then the actual fitness running because he has had a very interrupted pre-season.”
Meanwhile, Isaac Heeney has continued to increase his program as he begins to recover from glandular fever that halted his pre-season campaign.
