In summation...
Jeremy Laider may have only featured in three senior games during his final season as a player, but his impact at club level remained profound throughout 2017.
A victim of the Sydney Swans' depth, Laidler continued to work extremely hard for a recall and, at the same time, worked closely with NEAFL coach Rhyce Shaw to help impart his knowledge on his younger teammates.
His efforts didn't go unnoticed with the 28-year-old, who retired at season's end after 87 games, rewarded with a job offer that will see the widely-loved team member take the helm of the NEAFL side, alongside Tadhg Kennelly, as development coach.
He held his own at AFL level in what was a tough start to the season for the Sydney Swans, while the key defender reached a high level of consistency at the lower level to help guide Shaw's side through a successful year.
