BARRY Hall says he’s unsure what his future will hold after ending his career with the Sydney Swans on Tuesday.

Hall has long been touted as a prime candidate for a professional boxing career but he said he hadn’t ruled out seeking an AFL contract with another club in 2010.

“To be totally honest, I was more thinking about my career here and that’s been my thinking in the last week and a half. Now I guess I can sit down and sort out what’s next,” he said.

“I would find it tough to play against the Sydney Swans because I’ve been a big part of this club for eight years and it would be tough to run out against them.

But the 32-year-old said the only plans for his immediate future involved a break from the rigours of Australian football.

“Football for now is not a priority, as is talking about boxing or any other career,” Hall said.

“My initial thoughts are to go away and have a good think about what I want to do, what my heart’s in.”

Coach Paul Roos said the Swans would support Hall in whatever he decided to do with his future and he would always be welcome at the club.

Roos said it would be “very, very difficult” to coach against the 2005 Swans premiership star if he lined up with another club next year.

“It would be hard for the players, it would be hard for Lewis Roberts-Thomson or Craig Bolton. It would be hard because Barry’s like a family member to us. That’s the way we see him,” he said.

“This is where he’s spent a lot of his life and it would be very, very difficult to coach against him.

“But if that happened and that’s what Hally wanted to do… we’d be supportive of him. We just want what’s best for him as well as what’s best for the footy club.”
