Several Sydney Swans players will have an enforced rest for the early part of their break as they recover from injury.

Dan Hannebery has avoided surgery after suffering a significant medial ligament injury in the AFL Grand Final.

The 25-year-old has been wearing a precautionary brace and is expected to make a full recovery in time for the start of the pre-season.

Gary Rohan and Jeremy Laidler have each undergone an arthroscope to their knee but are not expected to face any significant delays in returning to pre-season training.

However, Head of Football Tom Harley says ruckman Sam Naismith will spend a good portion of the pre-season undergoing rehab.

“Sam Naismith, the last couple of weeks of his season was really brave in that he had quite a loose shoulder, so he’s had a shoulder reconstruction,” Harley said.

“They (shoulder reconstructions) can be a reasonably lengthy recovery, but we certainly don’t expect it to linger into the new year.”

Sydney Swans 1-4 year players will return to pre-season training in late November, will the full team to resume training in early December.
