Sydney veteran Jarrad McVeigh has suffered another injury setback and is expected to miss at least two more games.

McVeigh has played just two games this season due to calf and hamstring complaints, and coach John Longmire said the former co-captain is still struggling with both issues and has been ruled out of Thursday night's clash with the Western Bulldogs.

The 32-year-old is also extremely doubtful to be fit for the Swans trip to the MCG to take on Richmond on Saturday week.

"His calf has been slow, he's had hamstring and calf issues, so unfortunately he's had a season like that where it's been one thing after another for him, which is disappointing," Longmire said.

In better injury news, Longmire declared Kieren Jack and Sam Naismith available for selection this week, but refused to confirm their spot in the Swans 22.

Jack (hip) and Naismith (knee) both trained strongly at the SCG on Tuesday night.

Despite not playing since round five, Jack is almost certain to resume his role as a small forward against the Dogs, after struggling to carry his injury at the start of the season.

The 2010 best and fairest failed to play any part in the JLT Community Series but was picked for the season opener, and averaged just 15.8 possessions in his five games.

"In hindsight, if we had our time again we wouldn't have played him, but we had a young team at that point," Longmire said.

"He was going really well until he got injured but he suffered with the injury and coming off no training sessions, this time he's got a lot more preparation under his belt."

Naismith's availability heaps more pressure on out-of-form big man Kurt Tippett, with that pair likely to be vying for one spot, given Callum Sinclair has shown more in the Swans' recent matches before last week's bye.

"Since (Sinclair) has come back into the team he's actually been pretty competitive, and has provided a real contest for us," Longmire said.
