A group of kids from a remote Northern Territory school has swapped the red dust of the outback for the red and white of the Sydney Swans.

Last Thursday saw students from Areyonga School, situated just over 200 kilometres west of Alice Springs, visit the club for a tour sure to be treasured.

The tour gave the kids a glimpse of the change rooms, coaches’ room, the Paul Kelly Race, the hallowed turf of the SCG and even the club’s five premiership cups.

The kids, many of whom are Swans supporters, even took home a 2019 Sydney training jumper each.

Areyonga School principal Jonathon Fernando said the kids were rapt to visit the club. 

“It’s very special,” Fernando told SwansTV.

“It’s a different world for them out here in Sydney. Where we live it’s a remote community and there’s a lot of red dust around, so coming here to the big smoke and visiting the Sydney Swans Football Club – they’re really excited and really pleased to be here.”
