The GO Foundation is pleased to announce Shirley Chowdhary has been appointed as its inaugural Chief Executive Officer.

Chowdhary joins the GO Foundation with a wealth of global experience having worked for a top tier New York law firm, international banks JP Morgan and Westpac, and a number of not-for-profit organisations.

Founded in 2009 by Swans champions Adam Goodes and Michael O’Loughlin, the GO Foundation exists to empower young Indigenous Australians through education.

The GO Foundation provides merit-based scholarships for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to attend some of Australia’s best schools. It relies on the generosity of corporate and private donors.

Chowdhary says she looks forward to building on GO’s strong foundations.

“I’m honoured to be working with Adam and Michael who are exemplary role models and dedicate so much of their time to giving back to the Indigenous community,” Chowdhary said.

“The work of the GO Foundation is vital and can make a far-reaching difference, not only to the students, but also to their families and communities.

“As a result of the tireless work of our high-calibre board, we now have a chance to create even more opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and empower them through education.

“I am so excited about the future of GO.”

Swans great Adam Goodes says he’s rapt to have someone of Chowdhary’s distinction lead the GO Foundation into the future.

“Michael and I are really happy with the process we went through to find our inaugural CEO,” Goodes said.

“I never thought we’d get such an amazing person for the role as we do in Shirley.

“I’m really excited about Shirley’s willingness to learn, ask questions and challenge, and I really see her taking the GO Foundation to another level.”
