Aliir Aliir will realise his AFL dream after the Sydney Swans' Match Committee confirmed his place in Sunday's final side.

The key defender is the only change for the Round 6 clash at the Gabba, replacing Ted Richards after the veteran was ruled out with a fractured cheekbone.

Senior coach John Longmire confirmed for Centrum Team Selection that Aliir had earned his AFL berth after two promising seasons in the NEAFL

"We just want him to play to his strengths, just like he's done in our reserves," Longmire said.

"He has been playing on the opposition's key forwards every week and has been doing a great job.

"He's got a job this week, not only to fit into our back six accordingly but to make sure he competes hard. That's what we expect of him this week."
