Have you ever wondered how Ben McGlynn would sound singing a verse of “Eye of the Tiger” accompanied by the strum of Kurt Tippett on a Ukulele?
Patients at Sydney Children’s Hospital know after the Sydney Swans stars paid a visit on Tuesday as part of the AFL Community Camps.
The camps saw the entire squad out and about across NSW promoting the game and the club at schools, community activities and clinics.
Accompanied by staff from charity partner Redkite, McGlynn and Tippett embraced their inner performer with the help of Redkite’s Music Therapists and sang along to tunes including Survivor’s 1982 classic.
So used to working his magic with a football, Tippett’s talents on the strings left a lot to be desired as did McGlynn’s vocal cords but all was in good fun and provided plenty of entertainment.
After the performance they posed for photos, signed a few autographs and spent some time mingling with patients and their families.
The visit marked a 15-year partnership between the Sydney Swans Football Club and Redkite, an Australian cancer charity providing pratical support to young patients and their families.
