Sydney Swans co-captain Jarrad McVeigh could head west with his teammates this weekend, as the Swans prepare to take on the Dockers in Perth.
The two sides will meet at Domain Stadium on Sunday afternoon to contest the Redkite Cup.
Swans General Manager of Football Tom Harley says McVeigh missed the win over Carlton with a groin injury that he suffered at training last week.
“We’ve been monitoring Jarrad since then (and) with our main training session on Thursday we will reassess Jarrad at that stage, so he’s got a few hoops to go through,” Harley said.
Jeremy Laidler will also be monitored at training and could make a case to return from his hamstring injury against Fremantle.
Meanwhile a number of players are making strides in their recovery.
Ruckman Kurt Tippett is increasing his training load as he recovers from surgery to repair a hamstring tendon.
“Kurt has responded extremely well to the surgery that he had – he had a unique injury,” Harley said.
“He’s been running now for a couple of weeks (and) he’s just starting to pick up a little bit of intensity.
“He needs to build up the speed, integrate into skills and then get himself to that match-ready training intensity – certainly on track for a return in Round 22 which is great news.”
And Abe Davis and Zak Jones are both off crutches after being sidelined a week ago with ankle injuries.
