Star forward Lance Franklin has heaped praise on the performance of his midfielders for their performance in Saturday night’s semi final win over Adelaide.

Josh Kennedy (42 disposals), Tom Mitchell (32), Dan Hannebery (31), Kieren Jack (25) and Luke Parker (24) led the way through the midfield.

It was their work winning the contested ball that was most impressive with Kennedy having 21 contested possessions.

Franklin said it was great to see the response after a disappointing performance in the qualifying final against the Giants just a week ago.

“Last week we really struggled so we had to train at that contested style of footy as that is when we are at our best,” Franklin said post-match.

“They were able to get it forward and then we had an even spread of goal kickers so it was really exciting footy.

“We had two down but our work rate was up all day so it was an unbelievable win by the boys.”

The Swans had an even spread of goal kickers on Saturday night with nine individual goal scorers.

Franklin and small forward Tom Papley led the way each kicking a bag of four.

“Everyone really played their role tonight and that was a super win by the boys,” Franklin said.

“We’re into a prelim and I can’t wait to get down to Melbourne and play Geelong.”
