The Sydney Swans will field their sixth debutant of season 2016 when they play host to North Melbourne on Friday night.
Harry Marsh will play his first senior game in what is a huge clash against the current ladder leaders in the Kangaroos, the first match in the AFL’s Sir Doug Nicholls Indigenous Round.
The 189cm versatile defender has been called up to replace Ted Richards who’s out with concussion.
Marsh’s selection comes after the 22-year-old’s elevation from the rookie list as late as last week after being named a travelling emergency for Saturday night’s clash with Hawthorn.
After spending three seasons trying to break into the senior line-up, Marsh was delisted at the end of last season before the Swans threw him a lifeline during the Rookie Draft over the offseason.
Senior coach John Longmire said Marsh’s persistence had paid off, with the Western Australia rewarded for his consistent performance in the NEAFL.
"He has worked really hard over the summer and had a great season to date to be promoted to our senior list," Longmire said.
“He has been fantastic in our reserves and really deserves his opportunity so we can't wait to give him that chance."
The winner of Friday night’s clash takes home the Marn Grook Trophy while best afield will win the inaugural Goodes-O’Loughlin Medal.
