Nick Smith has pledged his commitment to the Sydney Swans until at least the end of 2018, after signing a two-year contract extension.
The 27-year-old defender has played 142 games in the red and white since being recruited to Sydney in the 2007 Rookie Draft.
Consistent and reliable on the Swans’ backline, Smith’s accolades include being named in the All-Australian side in 2014 and playing in the 2012 premiership.
Swans General Manager of Football Tom Harley says he’s rapt to have a player of Smith’s calibre sign on for the future.
“With Nick he’s the absolute clubman,” Harley said.
“He’s been a really high level contributor on the field, an All Australian, a premiership player and consistently a top-10 club champion finisher.
“He’s got the runs on the board and also what he contributes to the club off the field is fantastic.”
Smith joins young gun Luke Parker in recommitting to the Swans in 2016.
