Sydney Swans co-captain Jarrad McVeigh was widely acknowledged for his outstanding performance against Melbourne on Sunday, earning the top votes in the AFL Coaches Association award.
McVeigh’s experience shone through in wet conditions at the SCG as he collected 25 disposals across the half-back line to earn nine votes.
The 31-year-old also had nine tackles as he helped lead his team to an AFL record 155 tackles for the match.
Dean Towers received seven votes in one of his best games in the red and white, finishing with 27 disposals and two goals.
Lance Franklin (four votes), Josh Kennedy (four votes), Zak Jones (three votes) and Luke Parker (three votes) rounded out a clean sweep of Swans players.
Although he gathered 28 disposals Dan Hannebery missed the votes and has slipped to third on the overall leaderboard. Hannebery is on 55 votes behind Geelong’s Patrick Dangerfield on 66 votes and Joel Selwood on 60.
Star midfielder Luke Parker also sits inside the top 10 in eighth position with 41 votes.
