A colourful cricket match was played out on the hallowed turf of the SCG last week, when a Swans Legends XI took on African Maasai Warriors.
The nomadic tribe have been in Sydney for the Primary Club of Australia’s Marathon Cricket Event. The Primary Club is a charity that promotes access to sport for people with a disability.
Past Swans players including Jude Bolton, Brad Seymour, Adam Goodes and Amon Buchanan took part in the match, which raised funds for both the Primary Club and the Cerebral Palsy Foundation.
Bolton described the night as "an incredible experience".
"Not only to play against a team like the Maasai Cricket Warriors but to get back out onto the SCG, I know the guys in our side will never take that for granted," he said.
"And to see Goodesy smack them around the way he did was also amazing."
The Maasai Warriors are a nomadic tribe who come from Kenya and surrounding parts of Africa. The cricket side aims to raise awareness of a number of social issues back home including HIV/AIDS, women's issues and conservation.
A documentary of the team will also be released this year, which includes footage of the side's recent tour of England where they participated in a similar match at the world renowned Lord's Cricket Ground.
Scores were recorded but, as Bolton said, the game was more about raising awareness and important funds for the Cerebral Palsy Alliance.
Goodes however was judged man of the match for a starring performance with the bat which included the two-time Brownlow Medallist reportedly hitting six sixes. Two made it onto the roofs of the Members Stand and Ladies Pavilion.
He later signed and auctioned the game ball with proceeds donated to the cause.
