The hallowed turf of the SCG provided the perfect setting for the Sydney Swans to officially launch season 2016 – a historic year for the Club’s principal partner QBE Australia.

It’s 30 years since the insurer joined forces with the Swans, marking one of the longest-standing sponsorships in Australian sport.

QBE has been part of the Sydney Swans family since 1986, while the QBE logo proudly adorns the Swans guernsey.

More recently, the QBE Sydney Swans Academy has provided pathways for local talent including Isaac Heeney and Callum Mills.

Swans CEO and Managing Director Andrew Ireland says QBE’s commitment to the Swans has been rewarding and unwavering.

“Our football club owes a great deal to QBE, which has now been a loyal partner for three decades,” Ireland said.

“They’ve been with us through all the highs and lows of football; from premierships to wooden spoons, from key signings to the retirements of some of the greatest players to pull on the red and white jumper.

“We’re immensely grateful for QBE’s support and are rapt to be celebrating this tremendous milestone on the eve of the 2016 season.”

QBE Australia CEO Tim Plant says he is proud of the organisation’s enduring partnership with the Swans.

“This is a monumental year for the Swans and QBE Australia,” Plant said.

“The entire team at QBE Australia and New Zealand is extremely proud that 2016 marks such an important milestone for one of the most enduring sporting partnerships in the country.”

In 2011, the QBE partnership was one of five inaugural items included on the Sydney Swans Heritage List.
