Swans young gun Callum Mills is simply looking to play as much senior football as he can in 2016 after an impressive NAB Challenge campaign.
The No.3 draft pick was among the best players in two of the Swans three pre-season games playing what looks set to be a crucial role across the half back line.
It is Mills’ ability to put his body on the line to win the football and then use it with finesse by foot that has seen him stand out throughout the 2016 NAB Challenge.
Mills said he was hopeful of getting an opportunity to make his AFL debut in the season opener against Collingwood in a fortnight.
“It has been really good, now it is done and dusted we are really looking forward to Round 1,” he said.
“The main thing for me was getting experience under my belt playing at AFL level so that was the main aim.
Coach John Longmire has indicated his desire for Mills to play across the half back line to utilise his elite foot skills.
The 19-year-old is continuing to enjoy simply learning from each time he is given the chance to run out in the red and white.
“I will take each game as it comes, don’t look too much into my form and just get the experience,” he said.
“I just want to play as many games as I can but that is out of my control as long as I am playing well and training well it is up to the coaches.
“Hopefully I can play a couple of games.”
