There will be some keenly watched training sessions at the Sydney Swans this week, with several players pushing their case for selection for Friday night’s preliminary final against Geelong.

Speedster Gary Rohan is in doubt after being stretchered from the ground in the win over Adelaide. Scans have cleared Rohan of any significant damage, however the No. 16 suffered deep bruising to his knee and will need to get through training.

Co-captain Jarrad McVeigh was also injured in the semi-final win. Swans General Manager of Football Tom Harley remains hopeful the skipper will be right to play.

“Jarrad’s in the same boat as Gary Rohan,” Harley told the HCF injury update.

“He’s got a slight strain in his soleus, which is the calf muscle. He was able to go back on, which is a positive sign, and he’s recovered well to this point but he’s clearly going to have to go through a few hoops to be available for Friday night.”

Meanwhile Kurt Tippett (jaw) and Callum Mills (hamstring) are both recovering well and are a chance to return.
