Sydney Swans duo Mike Pyke and Jeremy Laidler are both in line to return to the senior team for Sunday’s clash against West Coast in Perth.
The pair will have to prove their fitness at training later this week in order to make the trip across to the country to take on the Eagles.
Pyke has been suffering ongoing soreness in his knee and was forced to sit out the clash against Hawthorn while Laidler who has had a career best season was sidelined with an ankle concern.
General Manager of Football Tom Harley said he was confident both players would be able to make the trip.
“Mike Pyke and Jeremy Laidler look like they are tracking well and they still have to get through training to be selected,” Harley told the HCF injury update.
“All things being considered at this stage both should be available for selection.”
Gary Rohan will not return this week as he continues to recover from a hamstring strain he suffered in Round 14.
Harley said a cautious approach would continue to be taken in Rohan’s return to the senior side.
“He played really good footy before he got injured and he is a valuable member of our team so he won’t be travelling to Perth,” he said.
Ben McGlynn made a successful return on limited game time in the NEAFL and is expected to increase his match practice with a trip to Darwin this weekend.
“He is a long way back purely from a preparation point of view after some soft tissue injuries,” Harley said.
“Ben got through the game really well and he is a really important player for us in our front half so he will have another hit out in the NEAFL on the weekend.”
