Despite missing most of the final quarter midfielder Luke Parker has been recognised as best afield by the coaching staff in Saturday’s win over Essendon.

Parker polled eight votes in the first round of the AFL Coaches Association Player of the Year award following his 35 disposal performance against the Bombers.

Five Swans players picked up votes from the coaches - Kieren Jack (7 votes), Josh Kennedy (6 votes), Dan Hannebery (5 votes) and Lance Franklin (1 vote) were all acknowledged for their output against the Bombers.

Each senior coach gives a 5-4-3-2-1 meaning the maximum a player can score in a game is 10 votes.

Parker now sits in ninth position on the overall leader board following the completion of round one.
