Key position player Sam Reid is expected to miss just one week after injuring his ankle in Friday night’s opening NAB Challenge match against Brisbane.
Reid left the field during the opening quarter before being subbed out of the game after slightly rolling his ankle during a marking contest.
Ben McGlynn was also subbed out of the game at half time after suffering some tightness throughout the first half of the game.
Stand in Coach John Blakey said there were no major injury concerns with either of the pair.
“Reidy’s ankle is not too bad and we are hopeful that he will only miss a week or so,” Blakey said.
“Benny is fine, he had a bit of a tight glut so we are not going to take any risks with these guys at this stage.”
“We are hoping he should come up well during the week and he should be alright.”
The Swans missed a key target up forward once Reid went down against the Lions with Lance Franklin and Kurt Tippett sitting out the opening pre-season contest.
“Obviously those boys would have been nice if we were able to play them but they will be back over the next few weeks,” Blakey said.
“We probably needed another tall target up there but you end up working with what you have got.
“It was our first hit out against opposition and it was a bit scrappy as we would probably expect.”
Blakey praised the performance of Captain Keiren Jack and youngster Dane Rampe who impressed off half back.
Academy recruit Jack Hiscox (8 disposals) join teammate Isaac Heeney in those who impressed during their first game at senior level.
“Jack is an amazing runner and he is just another one who has now experienced what playing senior footy is all about,” Blakey said.
“He will certainly improve and his run could be very important to us throughout the year so we have high hopes that he is going to be a good player for us.”
“I think there is improvement in quite a few of our guys.”
