Star forward Lance Franklin can not wait to join his teammates back on the field against Brisbane Lions at the Gabba on Sunday.
Franklin liked what swingmen Sam Reid and Adam Goodes brought to the forward line in last weekend’s win against Port Adelaide and wanted to see more.
Franklin watched from the grandstand alongside fellow key forward Kurt Tippett as Reid and Goodes wound back the clock to boot three goals apiece in the 10-point win at the SCG.
Both Franklin and Tippett, serving one-match suspensions last week, are almost certainties to return for Sunday’s Round 15 clash against Brisbane meaning the Swans are expected to structure up as normal.
But Franklin, speaking to SwansTV, wouldn’t mind seeing some changes made to the Swans’ forward setup to depart from the norm and bring a certain air of unpredictability to matches.
“I think it’s all about taking a different look into games, not giving what the opposition might usually see,” Franklin said.
“With Tippo and me coming back in, you still might see a different setup again which as we’ve seen is a good thing.”
Part of this break from the norm is the potential for Franklin to use his athleticism and ability further up the ground, allowing the Swans’ midfielders to add another string to side’s bow.
A potent string as seen against Port Adelaide when Josh Kennedy and Luke Parker stood up and kicked two goals each.
But at the end of the day those moves, according to the star forward, is up to the senior coach and dependant on other factors.
“Whatever John wants me to do on the day,” Franklin added. “I’m happy to play wherever.”
Franklin’s inclusion is a timely one with the Swans star averaging 3.6 goals a game against the Lions and having kicked a total of 15 goals from his four Gabba appearances.
