A fourth debutant of season 2015 will be unveiled when the Swans clash with GWs on Saturday afternoon.

Second-round draftee James Rose will pull on a senior jumper for the first time since arriving at the Swans via Pick #37 in the 2014 National Draft.

The 185cm forward, recruited from Sturt in the South Australian National Football League, is one of three changes for Saturday’s derby at Spotless Stadium alongside Dean Towers and Zak Jones.

The trio replace Luke Parker, Gary Rohan and Tom Mitchell.

Parker will spend 4-5 weeks on the sidelines after fracturing his ankle in the final quarter of last weekend’s win over Collingwood while Rohan failed to recover fully from a heavy knock to the knee.

And, in an unfortunate incident during Thursday’s training session, Mitchell bore an accidental finger to his eye and is a forced omission due to the seriousness of the injury.

“Tommy got a poke in the eye in a tackling drill,” Swans coach John Longmire confirmed for Centrum Team Selection. “He’s got some bleeding behind the eye so we have to be careful with that sort of injury.”

Misfortune often unearths opportunity which is certainly the case for 19-year-old Rose.

Having managed 13 solid games at NEAFL level, Longmire said Rose had worked extremely hard for his chance and deserved a senior debut.

“James has been sensational in terms of fitting into the club this year,” Longmire said.

“He really provides some excitement in the forward half and he’s a very clever footballer so it will be great to see him get his first game.”

Jones comes straight back into the senior side following his omission last week while Towers hasn’t played since Round 15.
