Dan Hannebery has called on his midfield teammates to stand up this week and impact the scoreboard in the absence of key forwards Lance Franklin and Kurt Tippett.
The Swans forward pair both accepted one match bans from the match review panel which will see them miss Thursday night’s all important clash against Port Adelaide at the SCG.
Hannebery is confident his side can cover the loss of the duo and kick a winning score against the Power.
“We think we have enough weapons up there, we have some speed with Gary Rohan and a few other guys that might potentially come in,” Hannebery said.
“You might see Reidy back there potentially and Goodsey has been in relatively good form himself.
“I think we have enough avenues there and certainly the midfielders I think will have to step up this week and kick a few goals.”
The Swans are looking to rebound strongly against Port Adelaide after a disappointing second half against Richmond on Friday night.
Hannebery said the team had been part of a ‘fierce’ match review on Sunday and addressed a number of issues in an attempt to turn around their poor form.
“We came in on Sunday and looked at the entire game, particularly the second half to be honest,” he said.
“It is pretty clear that our effort wasn’t up to scratch, some effort things and some communication things that had broken down.
“We were really disappointed by some of the vision we watched because a lot of the stuff was things we pride ourselves on and do most of the time.”
