Draft prospect Jarrod Korewha will spend the next fortnight training with the Sydney Swans as part of the AFL Academy’s placement program.
Korewha, from Koroit in Victoria’s south-west, will be one of 33 AFL Academy members training at different clubs across the country during the pre-season.
The teenager will immerse himself in the day-to-day goings on of an elite footballer, a modified initiative which previously involved squad members completing week-long blocks at two separate clubs.
This year’s placements offer prospects, like Korewha, the chance to spend more time integrating into the AFL system and rubbing shoulders with the game’s elite.
The AFL Academy just finished a camp in Melbourne last week, with club placements providing a prelude into the squad’s annual two-week training camp in America.
Korewha will be among the group who’ll travel to Florida on January 12 for an eight-day training block at the IMG Academy in Sarasota before finishing the trip in Los Angeles.
At 192cm, Korewha is described as an athletic utility who played 10 games for the North Ballarat Rebels in the TAC Cup competition and who also featured in the Academy vs Allies curtain-raiser during the AFL Grand Final.
