Results may speak volumes but numbers talk as well and Swans midfielder Luke Parker was keen to reinforce that message ahead of Saturday’s clash with Melbourne.

Despite back-to-back losses against Fremantle and Western Bulldogs, a slump not seen since the opening rounds of last season, the Swans are still leading the charge in two key columns on the stats sheet which the reigning Club Champion is confident will soon translate into wins.

Parker believes the fact the Swans lead the competition for clearances and sit second for tackles proves there is no question of output when trying to break down the team's losses for 2015.

The 25-year-old anticipates an eventual flow on effect that will see the turnaround the Swans need to buck the current trend.

“It’s great to get really good use out of the middle, we want deep entries and not just little scrubbers along the ground so we’ve been working on that and staying composed under pressure,” Parker said.

“We know our game stems from our tackling and pressure, in our forward half especially, and if we get that right then we know the rest of our game flows from there.

“It’s not a massive change we need to make, it’s our decision making and once we can get that right we should be right.”

Parker sits in the club’s top three for both centre and stoppage clearances, alongside fellow midfielders Dan Hannebery and Josh Kennedy, so far this season and averages over 25 disposals per match which are parallel to the stats produced in 2014.

Coinciding with his promotion into the leadership group over pre-season Parker was keen to hone his approach on doing more of the team things rather than placing any onus on individual stats.

Parker has seen himself in and under packs plenty of times this season - ranked third at the Swans for contested possession - which is just one of the ways Parker has aimed to “drive” the playing group and measure his own season to date.

“As a young bloke sometimes you come in and all you worry about is getting a game and a kick,” Parker explained.

“Then there comes a stage when you look up and think about what is best for the team and the set ups and what you can do to help everyone else out there.”

Sam Reid and Isaac Heeney completed today’s training session at the SCG successfully and will be available for the Round 6 hit out with the Demons.
