Sydney Swans coach John Longmire has ruled out Ben McGlynn for Saturday’s season opener against Essendon.
Longmire, speaking on Monday afternoon, said McGlynn would miss Saturday’s clash at ANZ Stadium as the small forward continued to recover from a hamstring injury suffered in the Swans’ first NAB Challenge match against Brisbane.
Jarrad McVeigh and Kurt Tippett are a chance for round one, as are Kieren Jack and Lance Franklin, pending the squad’s last training session on Thursday.
“The only one we’ve ruled out at this stage is Ben McGlynn, everyone else is a chance to play,” Longmire said.
“We’ve got a training session tomorrow (Wednesday) and training session on Thursday so we’ll see but they’re all on track.”
