Spare a thought for Samantha Armytage when the Swans do battle with Port Adelaide at the weekend.
Armytage, co-host of Channel 7 morning show Sunrise, is desperate to be on the right end of Saturday night’s result with highly-valued bragging rights on the line.
Port Adelaide’s chairman and general larrikin David Koch plonks himself next to Armytage “every morning…Monday to Friday” which proves challenging at the best of times for the passionate Swans Ambassador.
There's generally no hiding from Koch's nonsense, but in the week leading up to a Swans v Power clash the banter is overwhelming.
“It’s just a cross I have to bear,” Armytage said, stoically, describing what it’s like to sit next the Power’s chairman.
“He does not shut up about Port…Nat (presenter Natalie Barr) and I just roll our eyes.
“So we cannot drop anything to Port this season.”
A loss would mean a tough morning at the office but a win would offer sweet solace amid the other AFL supporters on deck.
“He’s quite rude about it,” Armytage said of Koch following a Port loss.
“There’s heaps of banter, throw in Berets (sport presenter Mark Beretta) with Geelong and it can get quite feisty on set.”
