Having been together for seven years and engaged for the past four, Kathryn Johnston and Mark Headon will finally get to tie the knot after winning a competition to get married on the SCG.
The ultimate commitment made possible by QBE will take place prior to the Sydney Swans’ Round 23 match against the Gold Coast Suns.
The long-time Swans supporters who are club and SCG members from Neutral Bay in Sydney had a private tour of their wedding venue on Friday morning and even bumped into a couple of the star players in Adam Goodes and Lance Franklin.
The worthy winners, who were the lucky ones chosen from the 200 plus entries, will now have six weeks to get their wedding dress, suit, rings, guest lists, bridesmaids, groomsmen and band sorted before they wed on the SCG and then hold a reception for 100 of their nearest and dearest during the Swans and Suns match.
In their winning entry, Mark wrote about his passion for the Swans and how the couple have been on the lookout for an unforgettable wedding.
“Sadly my sporting skills have not led me to launch a towering torpedo from 65 metres to win a game for the Swans or to stride out to open the batting in a new year’s test match,” he wrote.
“So this is it, the opportunity I never knew I was waiting for to marry the girl I love on the ground I love in this amazing city we now call home.
“If QBE and your competition can make this happen my gratitude will never cease.”

Principal Partner QBE and the Sydney Swans would like to thank all of the amazing couples who entered this once-in-a-lifetime competition.
