Sydney Swans’ General Manager of Football Tom Harley says Lance Franklin remains on track for pre-season after checking in with Swans’ coaching and medical staff.

The star forward, who revealed before the 2015 finals campaign he had been battling a mental health condition, dropped by the SCG for his post-season medical and meeting.

The publicised visit was routine but gave Harley and the rest of the football department further validation the 28-year-old was on track to make a return when the playing group reunites for preseason training on December 3.

“He’s got his preseason program, he’s met with the medical and conditioning team, he’s met with myself and he’s met with coach John Longmire,” Harley confirmed on Melbourne radio this morning.

“He’s going well. He’ll be in regular contact with the club as he works on his offseason program in preparation for preseason.”

Harley said the star forward, who looked happy and relaxed alongside fiancé Jesinta Campbell in a recent photo posted on Instagram, was appreciative of the well wishes sent from the wider AFL community.

"It's worth putting on record that Lance has been overwhelmed with the support he's had from not only Swans' supporters, but by football people and non-football people," Harley said.

"It was a brave decision that Lance made heading into the finals series – a really important finals series for us – to say 'look I've got a few things I need to work though', and we've provided support around that.
