Shane Potter: Henry, thanks for joining us for Coaches Column thanks to Celebrations. How will we approach tomorrow night’s match against Port Adelaide?

Henry Playfair: Our start was not what we wanted last week, then I think we showed what we were capable of when our energy and intensity went up after quarter-time. We really need to make sure we bring that intensity and energy right from the start of the game and then sustain it.

SP: What did you make of Port Adelaide’s game last week against Fremantle?

HP: It was a cracking game. I obviously watched it live when it was on and then had a good look at it during the week and it was a ripping game of footy. It was intense, high pressure with both teams having a good crack at each other. Port controlled the match and played some good footy, but just couldn’t finish it off in the last quarter.

SP: They are a really attacking side, how do you counteract that?

HP: It is really difficult, especially at the Adelaide Oval because the crowd gets loud and they get a lot of energy from their attacking play. They have some fantastic players and great runners, they put pressure on you through their offence. For us, it's about trying to defend really well in a smart way to try and get it going back our way.

SP: Is there an area of the ground that you think might decide who wins?

HP: The midfield is obviously crucial every week with that battle to send it your way or if it doesn’t go your way then you are on the back foot. These days with the way the game is played it's about having all eighteen men determine who wins or loses, not a section on the ground.

SP: How do you think the forwards will go tomorrow night? Were would be pleased with their output in the final term last week?

HP: They were suspect up until three-quarter-time but it was great for them how they finished off. To kick seven goals to nothing was really pleasing. It gets the forwards in some goal kicking form with Buddy kicking three and Tippo two as well as Isaac getting one. We want to make sure we continue to really spread that load across the board in terms of who is kicking goals.
