It was hard to take the ball off Joel Selwood on Saturday night let alone votes, with the Cats skipper rewarded with the full quota in this week’s round of voting for the AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year Award.

Selwood received the highest of praise from both John Longmire and Chris Scott following the Swans’ 32-point loss at Simonds Stadium.

Only two Swans featured in the voting – Josh Kennedy (three votes) and Lewis Jetta (two votes).

Kennedy fought hard, in the second half especially when the Cats gained control of the contest, to finish with 32 disposals and nine clearances.

Jetta was also superb, kicking two goals and collecting 23 possessions in one of his best games of the season.

JETTA'S SPARK AGAINST CATS

At the end of Round 19, Fremantle’s Nat Fyfe (100 votes) continues to have one hand on the award despite not playing for a couple of weeks.

Dan Hannebery, only 15 votes behind, is the best placed Swan sitting in second spot overall.

Hannebery made up some ground after his Round 18 performance against Crows but had a quiet night at the Cattery so will have to wait for Friday night to close the gap even more.

Kennedy moves to ninth spot on the overall leaderboard on 56 votes with four rounds left of the home and away season.
