The AFL has chosen Adelaide as the host city of this year’s National Draft.

For the first time in nearly 20 years Adelaide will host the 2015 league event to be staged at the Adelaide Convention Centre on Tuesday, November 24 at 5.30pm (ACDT).

The South Australian capital was chosen ahead of Gold Coast, which had been the draft’s host city for the past three years, and a number of other options including Sydney.

Not since 1997 has the ‘City of Churches’ hosted the event, with Swans officials flying home then with what has proven to be one of the best bargain buys in the draft’s history.

The Swans used all four selections with the third (43rd overall) securing the services of Adam Goodes from the North Ballarat Rebels.

As part of this year’s draft, the trading of future draft selections will be available to clubs and there will be live bidding on father-son and academy selections.

Entry to the draft will be free to the public, while the event will be broadcast live across the country on Fox Footy, as well as streamed online.

The Swans chose the following recruits in the 1997 AFL Draft:

Pick #11: Jason Saddington (Eastern Ranges), 142 games from 1998-2005

Pick #40: Fred Campbell (Bendigo Pioneers), 5 games in 1999

Pick #43: Adam Goodes (North Ballarat Rebels), 366 games from 1997-2015

Pick #59: Brett Rose (Eastern Ranges), 0 games
