A settling influence down back over four years with the Sydney Swans, Jeremy Laidler is now at the helm of the club’s NEAFL side.
Laidler, who played 87 career games with three clubs, was appointed as development coach alongside Tadhg Kennelly after retiring at the end of the 2017 season.
Drafted by the Cats as a rookie in 2007, Laidler developed a solid grounding playing alongside some of the best in the business in Matthew Scarlett and Darren Milburn, but that also meant senior opportunities were few and far between.
He was traded to the Blues at the completion of the 2010 season, playing a solid 19 games in his first season under coach Brett Ratten before injury struck.
He'd only play five games over the next two years.
An opportunity to join the Swans' backline presented itself and Laidler swooped, joining the footy club as a delisted free agent in the 2014 off-season.
Laidler played an integral part in what would become the league's best defence.
He played three senior games in his final season and took Sydney’s young NEAFL defence under his wing.
It was during this time Laidler's skills as a leader were brought to the forefront and led to him joining the development ranks.
Laidler, alongside Lloyd Perris, is again in charge of the NEAFL side in 2020.
