The Sydney Swans stormed into the 2014 Grand Final with a dominant 71-point preliminary final victory over North Melbourne at ANZ Stadium.

In front of 48,029 fans, the Swans were at their best from the outset, kicking nine goals to four by halftime and never letting the Kangaroos back in the contest.

Lance Franklin was at his brilliant best in the victory, producing a best on ground performance to finish the match with five goals as well as 23 possessions, 11 marks and four goal assists.

Through the midfield, the usual suspects including Luke Parker (26 disposals, eight tackles, three goals) and Josh Kennedy (27 disposals, 17 in the first half) were outstanding, while young guns Gary Rohan and Harry Cunningham also produced some of their best football for the season.

Milestone man Adam Goodes, who celebrated his 350^th AFL game with a win, was also an important contributor, finishing the match with three goals to his name.

With his team into their second Grand Final in three seasons, Swans coach John Longmire lauded his team’s depth after the win over the Roos.

"It's not just about the talent," he said.

"It's about Harry Cunningham coming off the rookie list, it's about Nick Smith playing on the opposition's good players, it's about Luke Parker, who's a really good player (and) pick 40 in the draft.

"Blokes that work hard and do offensive-defensive team football. That's the sort of footy we play.

"I know some of the focus from outside (is on the talent), but we really pride ourselves internally on our two-way football game.

"It takes 22 players to play that."
