The Sydney Swans are urging fans to get to the Sydney Cricket Ground early on Friday night to join in the pre-game festivities celebrating the club’s 2005 premiership success.
It will be a night of celebration for the majority of the players involved in the 2005 premiership with a lap of honour prior to the game along with a function pre-match.
The drought breaking victory which saw the Swans win their first flag in 72 years is being commemorated against Richmond on Friday night as part of the ten year anniversary celebrations.
Dual premiership player Adam Goodes encouraged all fans to join in the celebrations pre-game.
“It will be nice for the supporters to get here a little earlier, the 2005 boys will be doing a lap of honour and it is just an awesome tribute for those guys,” Goodes said.
“To bring that first premiership to Sydney after all those years was pretty special.”
A reminder the club’s NEAFL match against Sydney University will take place from 4.10pm with fans welcome to attend.
