Ainslie extend Swans Reserves' losing streak
The Swans' losing streak has continued after a loss to Ainslie on Sunday...
Daniel Currie presented strongly all day playing mainly at centre half forward while Nick Malceski complemented his four-goal effort with 34 possessions. Nick Smith was good at half back as was Matthew Laidlaw playing both forward and in defence. Scholarship player, Ryan Bottin-Noonan played well down back and on the wing and Ryan Brabazon, who played on ball, was in the Swans’ best for the fourth time in seven games.
Jared Crouch opened the scoring for the Swans before Kristin Thornton kicked his first and Mike Pyke kicked a major as a result of his follow-up after a ruck contest. At quarter time the Swans trailed by three points.
Ainslie kicked five goals and four behinds in the second term, and restricted the Swans to just one point. The Swans added five majors throughout the third term with goals from Orreal, Malceski, Gilchrist and Brabazon.
Malceski kicked three in the final quarter, and Matthew O’Dwyer took his tally to two. The Swans held Ainslie to only two goals in the final term, but it wasn't enough, with Ainslie winning the match by 29 points.
At the end of round seven the Swans Reserves sit at fourth position on the AFL Canberra ladder. They will now meet Eastlake on Sunday 24 May at 9.45am in the curtain raiser to the Sydney Swans v Port Adelaide game at the SCG.
