Several fresh faces are set to line up for the Sydney Swans for the first time in the side's opening Marsh Community Series match against GWS on Saturday.
Forward Lewis Taylor, big-bodied defender Kaiden Brand, small forward Sam Gray, draftee Will Gould, first-round selection Dylan Stephens and draftee Chad Warner will all represent the club for the first time against the Giants.
Both teams are set to be without a number of stars due to the State of Origin for match for bushfire relief set to take place on Friday night.
Interim coach Brett Kirk said he was looking forward to seeing what his young side could bring to the contest on Saturday.
“Our boys are looking forward to playing a meaningful game against opposition,” Kirk said.
“To play last year’s Grand Finalist in GWS will give us an indication on how we are tracking going into Round 1.
“Both teams will be missing some quality players due to the bushfire-appeal game but that means some young faces will get exposed to AFL footy.
“This is great for the growth and depth of our footy club.”
