The Swans bounced back in the best possible way after a disappointing fortnight to defeat Melbourne by 101 points on a night the club celebrated 30 years in Sydney.
It was also Irishman Tommy Walsh’s first game for the Swans, which he marked by kicking two goals.
The match was set-up in the first quarter when the Swans kicked away to a 40-point lead with seven unanswered goals to quarter-time.
Kieren Jack was superb for the victors with 33 disposals and three goals, as was Ryan O’Keefe (34 possessions) and Lewis Jetta (three goals).
