Over the course of the next month of the AFL season the Sydney Swans will play Essendon, North Melbourne, Western Bulldogs and Melbourne.

Sydneyswans.com.au looks into the next four games of the season after the announcement of the next month of the 2020 fixture on Monday.

Round 2 Sydney v Essendon - Sunday June 14, 3.35pm
Where to watch: Channel 7 live around Australia
Last time they met: Round 16, 2019 - Essendon 11.10.76 dft. Sydney Swans 9.12.66

Originally slated in the fixture to take on Essendon at the SCG in Round 2 this match has not changed in the revised 17 round season. Both teams won their opening round matches by under a goal meaning they will be hoping to regain some of that momentum from impressive first round performances. Last time these two sides met was on July 6, 2019 almost 12 months ago when Essendon came from behind to run out 10-point winners at the MCG. Will the home ground advantage play any factor with no crowd expected for the next few rounds? Only time will tell how both teams rebound from the unexpected three month break between games. A Sunday afternoon match up against a big Victorian club at the SCG on free to air television is set to re-launch the Sydney Swans 2020 campaign.

Round 3 North Melbourne v Sydney Swans - Saturday June 20, 1.45pm
Where to watch: Fox Footy (7mate in Sydney).
Last time they met: Round 9, 2019 - North Melbourne 10.12.72 dft. by Sydney Swans 11.11.77

North Melbourne are one of the teams that the Sydney Swans have already played this year after the two teams competed against each other in the March Community Series in Hobart. North Melbourne won that encounter by 11 points in an up and down affair. They then went on to win their Round 1 match against St Kilda by just two points in a preview of how tight the contest may be come Round 3. It will be the first trip to Melbourne of the season for the Swans as they get ready for an early Saturday afternoon contest against the hard at it North Melbourne.

Round 4 Sydney Swans v Western Bulldogs – Thursday June 25, 7.50pm
Where to watch: Channel 7 live around Australia
Last time they meet: Round 1, 2019 - Western Bulldogs 11.16.82 dft. Sydney Swans 9.11.65

The Sydney Swans have won two of the last three games against the Western Bulldogs with the teams last playing against each other in Round 1 last season. There are a number of new players in the Bulldogs side in season 2020 with Alex Keath and Josh Bruce all making their debut for the Dogs in their Round 1 match. On a short 5-day turn around, a Thursday night blockbuster at the SCG will make for a compelling contest in a rivalry that is once again spark to life come Round 4, 2020.

Round 5 Sydney Swans v Melbourne – Sunday July 5, 3.35pm
Where to watch: Channel 7 live around Australia
Last time they met: Round 22, 2019 - Melbourne 5.12.42 dft. by Sydney Swans 15.5.95.

The last time these two teams met was in Round 22, 2019 in which the Swans had a big 53-point win over the Demons at the MCG. The star of the show in that match was Ollie Florent who had 28 disposals on that occasion and will be looking to play an important role in the developing midfield group at the Swans in 2020. A nine-day break will give the Swans plenty of time to prepare for this fixture coming off a Thursday night match up against the Bulldogs.
