The Sydney Swans’ 2018 campaign played host to a highlights reel of high-flying grabs.
Swans Media runs an eye over three of the best below as the curtain is drawn on 2018.
George Hewett
Round 1
West Coast Eagles v Sydney Swans, Optus Stadium
The Swans flew to Perth to face the West Coast Eagles in their opening clash of the season, and midfielder George Hewett would take to the sky again as the second quarter ticked by. A soaring kick was sent fizzing inside 50, Hewett locked his eyes on the Sherrin and the youngster launched off the back of Eagles defender Jeremy McGovern to put the legion of Swans fans in raptures. Sydney would go on to clinch a 15-point win.
Robbie Fox
Round 6
Geelong Cats v Sydney Swans, GMHBA Stadium
The Swans charged to seven goals to the Cats’ one in the final term of a Round 6 classic to erase a 17-point deficit at three-quarter time – and Sydney forward Robbie Fox may have clicked his side into gear. The footy was sent soaring inside Sydney’s defensive 50 in the opening two minutes of the final stanza before a spring-heeled Fox leaped for the heavens, using Geelong’s Zach Guthrie as a step-ladder as he claimed an AFL Mark of the Year nomination.
Isaac Heeney
Round 21
Melbourne v Sydney Swans, MCG
But an Isaac Heeney effort in the Swans’ gutsy win over the Demons in Round 21 would not only top Sydney’s 2018 highlights reel of big marks, it would see the young midfielder eclipse Brisbane’s Charlie Cameron and Fremantle’s Michael Walters for Mark of the Year. Heeney flew high above Melbourne’s Jesse Hogan in the dying stages of the game and Sydney would go on to snare a 21-point victory.
