The Sydney Swans will celebrate its proud history during Swans Heritage Week in the lead up to our first game in Melbourne for the season on Saturday.
The Swans rich history was born out of South Melbourne Temperance Hall, originally known as the Emerald Hill Total Abstinence Society Hall, on June 19, 1874.
Throughout the week across the Sydney Swans channels the Club will highlight key elements of our history including key moments, our supporters and our players.
Head of Melbourne Operations Jonathon Monasso said it was an important milestone for the Club.
“This inaugural Swans Heritage Week is a significant milestone for all of our Club," Monasso said.
“The great Club we have today has been shaped by nearly 150 years of proud history, dating back to Temperance Hall in 1874.
“While we wont be able to celebrate this occasion in the manner we had planned, it is important we use this week to highlight and celebrate our rich South Melbourne history."
