What did you take out of our round 18 match, Fantasy-wise?
Lotts: Well it’s the first time in three months we’ve talked about a loss so that’s clearly a disappointing outcome from the match. In any case, there were plenty of positives to take out of the game and plenty of upside for the red and white. Despite the loss, it was good to see a few players crack the ton including Benny McGlynn (FWD/MID $520,835) with 130, Lance Franklin (FWD $504,076) with 106 points, Dane Rampe (DEF $325,908) with 103 and Josh Kennedy (MID $574,452) 101.
Sub-elite Legends: I have been saying it all year but the blokes that tackle hard get results on the Fantasy scoreboard. Benny McGlynn added an extra 36 points to his monster total with nine tackles and has been bumping up his scores all season.
Who’s your Swans player of the week?
Lotts: For me it’s got to be Benny McGlynn for his 130 Fantasy points from 23 touches, three goals and nine tackles. He’s been an absolute star this year. Well done to those coaches who picked him in their round 1 side. He’s averaging just over 100 points a match over the course of the year and has now scored over 111 in his past three matches.
Sub-elite Legends: In a game that didn’t have too many stand-out winners for the Swans, I’m going to single out Dane Rampe (DEF $325,908). Dane had a fantastic battle with Jack Gunston but he also ran hard into space and got plenty of mark-and-kick, plus-6 combos out of defence to bring up his tally of 103 and his second highest score for the year.
Which Swans player would you choose as your captain for the next game?
Lotts: It was talked up a lot the last time we played the Bombers so it’s really hard to go past Buddy as this week’s captain. He averages five goals a game against Essendon and the last time he played them earlier in the year he scored 115 points. Buddy’s highest score this year is 122 which was at the SCG against the Power, but I have a feeling he’s going to better that score this week against an in-form Bombers outfit.
Sub-elite Legends: I’m definitely with you there Lotts, Buddy loves playing the Bombers and on the SCG and should very seriously be considered for the captaincy. I have slammed you way too hard already this year though, for leading readers towards speculative captains so I will once again be putting the big C on current Brownlow favourite Josh Kennedy
Next up is the Bombers at the SCG, who are the players to look out for from Essendon?
Lotts: The man of the moment for the Bombers is Jake Carlisle (DEF/FWD $427,169). He’s coming off the two best games of his life where he’s scored 163 and 165 against Collingwood and the Western Bulldogs respectively. Carlisle is a 198-centimetre weapon who takes plenty of marks and can kick bags of goals which means one thing – he can score massive Fantasy points. He’s one to keep an eye on certainly heading into next season – let’s just hope he doesn’t kick a bag against Teddy and Reg on Friday night.
Sub-elite Legends: From afar, I love how Dyson Heppell (MID $519,518) goes about it. In Jobe’s absence he has been the highest averaging Bomber with 106.6 points and always manages to will himself on games. Brendon Goddard (MID $536,986) is another Bomber who will be a real threat if he can get off the chain. He has played far more midfield minutes this year, is averaging just over 100 points a game, and will definitely need to be watched on Friday night
Any changes this week for your team?
Lotts: I freed up a lot of cash last week, so this round I’m going on a spending splurge. In comes Tom Rockliff (MID $666,600) for Nathan Jones (MID $491,672) who has been more than serviceable this year (I can’t believe it’s taken me until round 19 to get Rockliff back into my side after offloading him after a suspension earlier in the year). A severely under-priced Sam Mitchell (DEF/MID $439,269) also comes into my team and replaces his teammate Matt Suckling (DEF $384,335). I’m fairly happy with where my team’s at approaching the finals. I’m averaging 2051 a round and am currently placed 4164 overall. How’s your team going Sub-elite Legends?
Sub-elite Legends: I was one of the blessed coaches who bought in Tom Rockliff last week and had him and his 190 points doubled with a very handy captain choice. This week I have decided to punt injured ruckman Aaron Sandilands (RUC $435,884), switch the ultra-high scoring Stefan Martin (FWD/RUC $474,154) from forward to ruck and adding Luke Parker (FWD/MID $502,355) to round out my forward line.
