Swans Fantasy: Round 11
Swans Fantasy team captains debate who to buy, keep and trade ahead of the Swans' round 11 clash
What did you take out of the Bombers clash, Fantasy-wise?
Lotts: It was another great performance all round against the Bombers. The team is in good form, everyone’s contributing and equally as important, Fantasy scores have remained consistently high! With a huge match against Geelong on tonight, fingers crossed the likes of Parker (FWD/MID $518,615), Jack (MID $514,697), Hannebery (MID $530,421), Franklin (FWD $410,587) and Kennedy (MID $570,619) can keep the good times rolling.
Sub-elite Legends: The big thing I noticed from the Bombers clash was the broad spread of Fantasy performers. When the bulk of the side is in form, the game opens up for the big Fantasy performers. Players like Josh Kennedy (MID $570,619) and Lance Franklin (FWD $410,587) have shot up their averages over the past few weeks as now that the midfield and forward line has more options.
Who’s your Swans player of the week?
Lotts: Without sounding like a broken record, it’s got to be Josh Kennedy again for me this week. Joey is in some seriously good form at the moment averaging 122 points a game in his past six matches. If you don’t have him in your side, get on board now as his last two matches have netted 139 Fantasy points in each game.
Sub-elite Legends: You’re not wrong, Kennedy was unstoppable. Tom Derickx (RUC $253,609) wasn’t the best player on the ground but notched up an admirable 70 Fantasy points against the Bombers. He has arguably been the best return for investment from the bargain basement ruckmen so far this year and doesn’t look like stopping. He is a valuable bench ruckman and is fast growing a cult status amongst Swans fans.
Which Swans player would you choose as your captain for the next game?
Lotts: I’ve just pumped him up so I’ve got to stick with Josh Kennedy. He actually doesn’t have the best record against the Cats but I’m backing him to buck the trend and pull out his seventh straight score over 100.
Sub-elite Legends: Agreed - two consecutive 139 point scores from Joey Kennedy means it is a no brainer this week.
Next up is Geelong at the SCG, who are the players to look out for from the Cats?
Lotts: Geelong’s got guns all over the field but the player in the hottest form at the moment is Brownlow medallist Jimmy Bartel. Fresh off a 155 Fantasy point match last round, Jimmy is averaging 106 points a game and oozes class and consistency. Another player to keep an eye on is their captain Joel Selwood. The last time he played us at the SCG he was unstoppable, willing his team home to victory on his way to 123 Fantasy points.
Sub-elite Legends: One man. Steve Johnson (MID $608,681), he is a bona-fide Fantasy star. He has the 3rd highest Fantasy average across all players in the AFL and is freshly returning from a week off that he will be keen to make amends for.
Any changes this week for your team?
Lotts: Now that the bye rounds are over – at last – it’s time to reassess my team and get some big guns in. I was able to off-load some rookies over the bye rounds so I’ve got plenty of cash to spend. On top of my list are a couple of midfielders in Tom Rockliff ($600,098) from the Lions and Dyson Heppell ($553,827) from the Bombers who are averaging 123 and 113 points respectively. Making way will be St Kilda’s Luke Dunstan ($361,229) and Port’s Jared Polec ($418,039) who have both been excellent cash cows.
Sub-elite Legends: After his 0, yes ZERO, last week, I have offloaded GWS youngster Josh Kelly (MID $321,216) for the very underpriced Ryan Griffen (MID $437,275). Aside from that I need to bide my time until the final teams come through.
