Sydney Swans spearhead Lance Franklin is confident he will be back to his best despite his latest injury setback.
Franklin suffered a hamstring injury on the eve of the season that will see him sit out the next 6-8 weeks of football.
The key forward said he was confident he still had plenty of good football ahead of him.
"People are allowed to say what they want, that's the industry we're in. I'm just focusing on getting myself in really good condition, ticking all the boxes I need to tick to make sure that I get back and I've got no doubt that I can get back to my best," he said.
"It's going to take a lot of hard work but I'm willing to put in the work to make sure I get back out there.
"I'm just focusing on rehabilitating myself as good as possible, putting all my focus in on and that so I can get back as good as possible.
Franklin used the AFL shutdown period as a chance to bond with his newborn daughter Tullulah.
The 33-year-old said it was nice to be able to form that bond with his family throughout that period.
“I think the isolation period for me having the newborn was perfect,” he said.
“I got to spend time with my daughter that I wouldn’t have had because I normally leave early in the morning and get back late at night."
“For me to have that time to build that connection with my daughter was amazing.”
"I appreciate my mother and all women, but the appreciation of seeing exactly what mothers do, day in day out ... my appreciation for them is just through the roof, and especially my wife."
Franklin is continuing his rehabilitation program at the Club as he aims to return to the field later this season.
