Of the Club’s 11 home matches, seven will be against last season’s top eight sides including grand finalists Hawthorn and Fremantle, as well as Geelong, Richmond, Collingwood, Port Adelaide and Carlton, while the remaining four home matches will be against North Melbourne, Essendon, St Kilda and GWS.
For the first time ever, the Swans will host a mouth-watering Thursday night match at the SCG against Geelong launching the AFL’s Indigenous Round.
The round 11 match could potentially showcase the likes of Swans Adam Goodes, Lance Franklin and Lewis Jetta going up against Steven Motlop, Allen Christensen, Mathew Stokes and Travis Varcoe for the Cats in a not-to-be-missed match-up.
The Swans will also play four Friday night games, with two in Sydney against reigning premier Hawthorn (Rd 8) and Essendon (Rd 19), and two matches in Melbourne against Essendon (Rd 9) and Richmond (Rd 14).
For the third year in a row, the Swans will kick off the season with the Sydney Derby against GWS – this time at their home ground at the Showgrounds – before hosting the blockbuster round two clash against Collingwood at ANZ Stadium.
The first match at the recently redeveloped SCG will be against North Melbourne in round four, followed by the arrival of last year’s grand finalists Fremantle in round five.
The Swans will play five matches in Melbourne (Essendon, Melbourne, Richmond, Hawthorn and Western Bulldogs), two in Queensland (Brisbane and Gold Coast), two at the redeveloped Adelaide Oval (Adelaide and Port Adelaide), and one in Perth (West Coast).
Acting chief executive Dean Moore said the fixture provides challenges and opportunities for the club in 2014, emphasising the importance of becoming a member of the club.
“With seven of our 11 home games against last season’s top eight teams, the fixture certainly provides some challenges from a football perspective but it is a great opportunity for our members, supporters and corporate partners to watch the Swans taking on the best teams in the big games,” Moore said.
"We are really pleased that we will host the opening game of Indigenous round which could very well feature two of the most decorated Indigenous players in the history of the game in Adam Goodes and Lance Franklin.
“With blockbuster matches scheduled in primetime slots at both the recently redeveloped SCG, and ANZ Stadium, the best place to be next season will be watching the Swans live in the grandstand.
“Matches are expected to be well attended next season with so many games against big drawing clubs, so the best way to guarantee a seat is by becoming a member.”
