The Sydney Swans are looking to improve their draft position after acquiring pick 14 in the National Draft in a trade with Hawthorn on Wednesday.

It will leave the Swans entering the draft with two first round selections for the first time since 2009 should they retain both pick 14 and 17.

Head of Football Tom Harley said the club was open minded as to what it could do for the remainder of the trade period.

“We are open to exploring all of those options,” Harley said.

“We haven’t lost any draft picks at this stage, we have only gained in the first round and we are absolutely committed to improving our list.

“We are keen to explore any of those options and we are keen to talk about improving our draft position.”

Harley said the Swans would not be looking to add any players to their list before next Thursday’s trade deadline.

“We are clearly regenerating the list with seven debutants this year and we are committed to adding a couple more a graders come the November draft,” he said.

“We are not in the market to bring in players at the moment so we are going back to the draft as we look to improve our list.”

The Swans will hold picks 14, 17, 38 and 56 in the upcoming draft once the Mitchell swap goes through.
