Round 23 v Geelong
A strong start was not enough to secure the Sydney Swans victory over the Geelong Cats with the home side proving too strong in the home and away season’s final round.
The Swans led by nine points early in the second term, but kicked just six goals to the Geelong’s ten in the second half to lose the match by 32 points.
Without Sam Reid, who was ruled out of the clash with injury, the Swans failed to find a target up forward with co-captain Adam Goodes receiving plenty of attention from the Cats’ defence.
The Swans midfield were strong, led by co-captain Jarrad McVeigh (32 disposals) and Josh Kennedy (24 touches), while Kieren Jack slotted a late entry for ‘Goal of the Year’ with an amazing kick from the boundary line in the third term.
